Folks, As I sit in the Historical Society Library at the University of Wisconsin-Madison reading A critique of traditional schooling, I ponder the thought of education in the United States. This being an election year and all education, the economy, health care, gay marriage, and defense are the hot topics President Obama and Willard Romney will be asked to explain plans for improvement on. I feel as a voter and to my fellow readers who are voters that I should let each candidate know what I think is important in this election year. I would ask the future President of the United States to keep in mind the importance of all types of education both formal and informal. Having graduated from a public high school I full support the government financing of public education; I ask not to throw millions of dollars at the system, but rather to sit down with the local school teachers, administrators, and faculty to determine where money needs to be spent, and how resources can be used more efficiently while remaining or growing in effectiveness. The second issue that the future President of the United States should take on is health care in the United States. So often we hear stories of insurance companies not covering operations, medications, or all forms of health care. We hear stories of fellow men and women failing to be covered by insurance companies, this must stop. We live in a nation where the "American Dream" is still alive, sadly I do not believe this is true and the lies start with health care. There is no reason that any man, woman, or child should walk into a hospital and should have to worry about paying for the visit, operation, or medication. I encourage each candidate to adopt a platform that provides free health care for all Americans, the money will come, because the country is nothing with out the 99% that live and work for the well being of themselves, their family, and their country.

This weekend I took a weekend trip back to the little town where I was raised, some call it McFarland, I call it home. During my stay at home I came upon the opportunity to meet an old friend and mentor for lunch on Madison's upper east side. We had lunch at a nice little place called The Alchemy Cafe the food was great the atmosphere was great and most importantly the company was great. Aloof the conversation the book entitled How to Make Friends and Influence People was brought up, a book I have yet to read, a book I have purchased. The rest of my afternoon was spent playing in the dirt (gardening) during which I got to thinking: Madison Wi is a great place to live. Cliche some may say but hear me out, having spent the majority of my time walking State Street and at the Memorial Union I felt that I knew Madison. I could not have been more incorrect, I knew nothing of the great people that walk the side walks on the east side offering up a wave as you drive by. Moral of the story: get to Madison, meet the people, you will never want to leave.

Welcome

Recently I have come to realize that in recent times Facebook has come to be nothing but a bunch of failed social movements starring the usual players. This comes as a concern to an individual like myself, an individual that believes the bandwagon movement is on a crash course. Therefore I have moved my efforts to the Blogging sector in hopes of combating these bandwagon "like now" "spread the world" "share if you believe" attitude that many Facebook users engage in. Rather I hope to form a culture that making a change is not as simple as hitting a button on your computer, but a change that occurs not on the internet but in the communities we call home. A change that outlasts the spike in interest of Facebook a change that both young and old will have something to hang their hat upon when the day comes to a close. So long as the internet is free the voice of you and I is alive and well.
